Strophanthīn, kristallinisches, sehr bitter schmeckendes, in Wasser und Alkohol leicht lösliches, stickstofffreies Glykosid in Strophanthussamen (s. Strophanthus), Muskelgift, das namentlich die Kontraktilität des Herzmuskels steigert, regelt die Herztätigkeit, deshalb gegen Herzschwäche und organische Herzleiden benutzt, bewirkt in größern Gaben tödliche Muskelstarre.
